Surely by now we all know that the most expensive skincare products aren’t always the most effective.
In fact the @portiam_skin and @gentlemagicusa hype has been going on for years now. Some of the most amazing skin transformations I’ve seen where from people who swear by either one or both of these brands. I’ve also heard some pretty harrowing tales about them, from bleaching to aggravating cystic acne, right down to actual burning of the skin. I avoided them for the longest because I’m just not a high-risk, high-reward type...Until a few weeks ago when I just woke up feeling courageous🤷♀️.
So I picked up “the 3-step” for both brands and switched the moisturizers for the serums, with the plan to do two weeks of each.
I started off with @portiam_skin and the cleanser had a really organic smell I don’t like, but I thought the consistency was great, it doesn’t leave that film-like feeling like most liquid soaps(I prefer bar soap). Then the toner - I had a rash and cystic pimples for the entirety of my trial and I believe it was the toner. I’ve been told I was just “purging”. Maybe I was...but “worse before it gets better” just isn’t my potion. The serum was too tacky to layer well with other products, it just didn’t work for me.
By the time I started on @gentlemagicusa my skin was a wreck, I was annoyed and just focused on wrapping up this review. But the soap bar took me by total surprise. It’s among the best chemical exfoliants I’ve tried. A keeper❤️. The toner did help with the excess oil and cystic pimples, but I won’t lie, every morning I looked lighter and lighter 🤣🤣🤣. I don’t have an opinion about the serum because it really is mediocre. Ke serum-o.
Here is my two cents - both these brands have crafted a pretty potent trade secret at unbeatable pricing. Lives have been changed! Its either for you or it’s not🤷♀️
My quest for the answer to all my skin needs clearly still continues though.
Until Next Time❤️
